The OEM style SCR switched shunt type voltage regulator was inefficient and generated massive heat in use, along with poor grounding through the case frame mount. We decided to bring these bikes into the future by updating the charging system to a 3 phase stator and modern series voltage regulator for more power and increased reliability. The 3 phase stator design uses 3 coils that overlap output and are no longer severely RPM dependent, generating charging power from 1000RPM at idle on up to redline! The series type voltage regulator provides efficient and accurate voltage regulation while lowering stator winding temperatures for increased life.
