Voltage Regulator Rectifier for Yamaha TX 500 / XS 360 400 500 / RD 400 1973-1982
This solid state voltage regulator/rectifier replaces the separate voltage regulator and rectifier units used on many of the listed models. It should be a direct plug in to replace both units.
The wire color and function is as follows:
- 3 White - stator AC in (no polarity, connect in any order)
- Black - Battery negative (ground)
- Red - Battery positive
- Brown - Keyswitched positive (field coil constant positive)
- Green - Field coil regulation control (switched ground)
Battery condition is extremely important. No voltage regulator can work correctly with a bad or weak battery. Always fully charge your battery before performing any charging system tests or replacing parts. If there is any doubt, have the battery load tested or replaced.

- Use hi-temp dielectric grease on all connectors.
